The installation of an extension in a Joomla 2.5 web site can be completed quite fast.
First, you should find an extension which is compatible with the latest Joomla release. You can search for one in the Joomla extensions directory:
Once you download the chosen extension you can log in your Joomla 2.5 administrative area and navigate toExtensions -> Extension Manager. At the Upload Package File section click on the Browse button, find the extension package placed on your computer and click on Upload & Install.
If the installation package is uploaded inside your hosting account you can install it through the Install from Directory section inside the same tool. In this case you should place the full server path to the file. For example, if the file is situated inside the public_html/ folder on one of our servers you should fill in:
/home/username/public_html/name_of_the_installation_package.zip
where:
username - this is your cPanel username
name_of_the_installation_package.zip - this is the name of the extension installation package.
You can also install an extension directly through an URL using the last option inside the Extension Managercalled Install from URL. In the provided field you should place the full URL to the installation package.
